Remember when we were kids and we wanted to grow up? What were we thinking? I still can't believe this happened, what a weird thought! Well, everyone has moments they vividly remember about their childhood. Some good others we long to forget but can't. So this Thursday got me thinking about the childish commitments that I had. One particular aspect was love, if at all it deserves to be called love. After all it was just a childish transition each normal person goes through. Was it really love or a fling? Am sure none. I was young and naive, ready to explore the world in all its breadth.

Each time I think I've created time for myself, along comes a throwback to disrupt my private space. Wole Soyinka.

My childhood love memory is quite hazy but then what a better way to relate it to a great hit by Alec Benjamin? Alec Benjamin (born May 28, 1994) is an American singer and songwriter from Phoenix, Arizona. He is known for his hits "Let Me Down Slowly", "Paper Crown", "I Built a Friend", "End of the Summer", and "Water Fountain".

Alec Benjamin is months older than me so I found this track perfectly resonating with my childhood love. The track is called End of Summer. Here are the lyrics:

When I was fifteen, in my parent's house
I met a good girl when school got out
And I was too scared to tell her how
I loved her still
Well I loved her still, I loved her still, I loved her still
Well we grew up and we both moved out
We went to different schools in different towns
And is it too late to tell you now
I love you still
Well I love you still, I love you still, I love you still

Mistakes I made when I was younger
And it's too late to discover
Love at the end of the summer
At the end of the summer
And there are times that I wonder
Is it too late to discover?
Love at the end of the summer
At the end of the summer, summer, summer

Well I, think back every now and then
So I can sit back, and just pretend
That when you call me, I will tell you how I feel
And I never will, I never will, I love you still
I love you still, I love you still, I love you still

Mistakes I made when I was younger
And it's too late to discover
Love at the end of the summer
At the end of the summer
And there are times that I wonder
Is it too late to discover?
Love at the end of the summer
At the end of the summer, summer, summer

And very night before I sleep
I like to think you think of me
And every night before I sleep
I like to think you think of
I think that we should think of
And do you ever think of

Mistakes I made when I was younger
And it's too late to discover
Love at the end of the summer
At the end of the summer
And there are times that I wonder
Is it too late to discover?
Love at the end of the summer
At the end of the summer

Mistakes I made when I was younger
And it's too late to discover
Love at the end of the summer
At the end of the summer
And there are times that I wonder
Is it too late to discover?
Love at the end of the summer
At the end of the summer, summer, summer.
